August 15th,2011.Time 10.30 pm @ Koyembedu Bustand. I was awaiting my bus to board to Bangalore. The scheduled bus was delayed by more than half an hour. It was quarter past Eleven. There was big rush at the terminus owing to the festival and long weekends. I felt truely nostalgic. There was a sudden urge in me go back home instinctively. I Curbed it, soothing my nerves saying that I am too old for such a feeling.
A mofusil bus came to the parking bay. The driver and conductor just got down to refresh themselves. Being already late by more than a hour, our 10.30 pm bus passengers grew restless , boarding the bus on their own. They even advised the conductor to get this bus scheduled for the same. The conductor proceeded to the 'time keeper'. I boarded the bus. Seat Number 13, on the right side. Beside me was another Karthik Seat Number 14. I was amused at the strange coincidence. The bus was poorly lit with dim lamps and most of the people were sweating profusely because of hot weather outside. I opened the window shield to get some air.
The bus got ready for its schedule departure. The last two seats remained unfilled and two passengers got in. "Keep 307 rs ready" Said the conductor to each of them .
The air slowly started to flow in . and out we got on the Bangalore -Highway.
It was fine with few tea stops during the journey that conductor and driver got down to refresh themselves.
At half past five , there was strange rumblings, crash and shouts which woke me up. I was fine. I looked around. I found lot of sand strewn across my face and all over my seat. Slowly the shouts and shocks gave into yelling and howlings. It was all dark inside the bus. I realized for the first time in my life, that the bus i had travelled met with a serious accident. The 16th August dawn has a lasting impact in my life. The early morning rays at place outside Kolar gave me the clear picture. The left half of bus was crushed ,only mangled metal pieces and debris remained. I am very lucky to write this experience, for no one else should ever come across such a scene. Mangled luggage, severed limbs, broken legs, it was truely devastating.
It was around 6.15am, the ambulance started rescuing people.
Casualities?! Yes i saw atleast couple , Conductor one among them . I still ask this question Why this experience for me and the rest of the passengers. This incident is quite strong for me and for anyone i suppose. Well i understand that Hex equivalent of "57005" is there always for all. But its my humble prayer it should not be gruesome to anyone.
Later as i shared my unfortunate incident with my friends, they were shocked.
For they had also seen the same , through the Film "Engeyum Epodhum". True as shown in the climax of the movie, my experience was equally shocking and gruesome.
Divine intervention and some guarding angels saved our lives.
OM Shaanthi Shaanthi Shaanthihi.
Very nice...thought full and well written
